A Symbol

2022

A Symbol begins with a habitual gesture. During lectures, the artist repeatedly drew circular marks and looping lines on the margins of a notebook without conscious intention. These marks were later isolated, reproduced, and translated into a visual system.

The project treats these repetitive drawings as a form of notation. Through tracing, organizing, and reiterating the marks, the work examines how unconscious gestures can accumulate into structure. What appears incidental becomes consistent through repetition.

A Symbol reflects on how meaning can emerge from routine actions, and how a personal mark can shift from a private habit into a shared visual language.
